Mrs. Alexander's School is a nut-free environment. Please be aware that this means that any food that enters the school must NOT contain nuts OR nut traces of any sort. Due to the rise in number, and the severity of nut allergies, we feel that being nut-free ensures a safer environment for your children. Please make sure you check the ingredient content of any snacks you bring in, as well as in your child's lunch. |
THE EXTENDED-DAY PROGRAM BEGINS PROMPTLY AND AUTOMATICALLY AT 11:45 A.M. Parents may leave a child at school any afternoon until 5:00 p.m. We need at least 24-hour advance notice by those parents using this program on an occasional basis. Children should bring a nutritious lunch from home. Your child's lunch box must be clearly marked on the outside with his/her name. The school will provide juice or water if desired. The extended-day quiet time is from 1:45 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. No child will be dismissed during that time unless there is an emergency. Children staying for Quiet Time should bring a sleeping bag or blanket from home. The fee for Extended-Day Program is $9.90 per hour. You will be billed at the end of each month for the Extended-Day Program.
The early drop off program is available for you to drop off your child between 8:00 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. The cost for this program is $10.00 daily.

We invite parents to visit the school any time during the school year. We have established a parent-volunteer program in which parents assist teachers with projects that require close supervision. This enables us to offer a full program of enrichment and provides an opportunity for parents to learn about the school.
There are two "Parent Events" events scheduled during the school year. In December there will be a "Holiday Workshop" for parents and children to enjoy together, and in the spring the parents are invited to "Parent's Night". This is a special time for you to visit the school and to share an evening planned by the teachers and the children just for you!
It is extremely important for teachers and parents to have opportunities to exchange information which will be helpful in understanding each child. Individual "Parent-Teacher Conferences" are scheduled in January for Kindergarten and in the spring on Evaluation Day for all students. This will be an opportunity for us to share the progress of each child. Parents are strongly urged to participate. Other conferences may be arranged as the need arises.
Each month your child will bring home a copy of Mrs. Alexander's School Newsletter. This will contain a note of general information from the director as well as from each teacher. October's newsletter will also contain a brief description of each teacher's background. Your child will also bring home a monthly calendar which will contain the events scheduled for that month at school.
Preschoolers must be 3.0 years of age to be eligible for attendance in preschool. Children entering the kindergarten program must be 5 years old by August 31st or age-appropriate for their particular school system.
